Credit where credit is due!

Greetings,

Question: Your a football manager, your playing away from home against last years Premiers, its the second half and your 1-0 up.
Do you (a) go all out and try and grab another 2 goals because you want to smash them into the ground?
or (b) do you take a more conservative tact and try and soak up their pressure and hope to nick a 2nd goal on the counter?

99% of managers within the world of football would select option (b) without a second thought. It is the most sensible option if you want to keep your job and any of the 3 points you have in your hands at the time. Mr Andy Harper on the other hand last night demonstrated why he is NOT a football managers left testicle and why he has gone a long way in my book to becoming the most hated football commentator in the world. Yes thats right, even more hated than Robbie "I have a Premiership winners medal dont you know" Slater.

Last night the mighty Newcastle Jets were playing away from home against the Melbourne Victory. A very tough away game, one in which i was hoping that we could some how sneak away with a 0-0 draw. So it was to my great delight that after around 7mins Adam Griffiths appeared at the far post to head home the opening goal of the game. Beautiful to watch, but even i would admit it was against the run of play, Melbourne were lively in the opening minutes. Now hang on a minute, there isnt anything irregular there, Melbourne were the home team, of course they would be the more attacking team early, should we expect anything different?
Andy Harper does!

Straight after the goal Melbourne threw everything at the Jets defence, trying to get the goal back. Here i must add that while Melbourne had a lions share of the possession they did sweet FA with it. The main reason for this, was The Jets defence was of world class standards, especially North and Griffiths, and did the commentators acknowledge this? Oh no, they just pointed out that The Jets were wasteful in attack. Now im sure most Jets fans expected the boys to be on the defensive for quite some time after getting the goal and im sure that most Victory fans expected their boys to hammer the Jets defense for the remainder of the half.
Andy Harper didnt! He couldnt understand why the possession was so 1 sided!

The second half began with the Victory smashing the Jets penalty area and pinning them in their own half. To the most educated, no scrap that, to just about all football fans, this was to be expected. The home team was 1-0 down, they had just had a halftime serve from their coach and their fans had found their voice and were trying to sing their team back into the game.It was to be expected, it was my thought, as im sure it was for alot of you, that if The Jets could withstand the onslaught for at least 15 mins then they would stand a huge chance of getting something from the game.
Andy Harper didnt! He couldnt understand why The Jets were struggling to get out of their own half.

The game was starting to heat up as the Victory struggled to find a way past a very impressive Jets defence. Tackles were flying in all over the place from both teams as Matthew "Im an Orc from the Lord of the Rings" Breeze started to lose control. Then the inevitable happened, Joel Griffiths lost the ball and snapped, chased Pantelidistheoklitoscookiemonster down the sideline and fouled him several times before the guy got the shits and elbowed him in the face. Stupid thing to do as Breeze had blown the freekick at the moment he lashed out. Now everyone knows, as strange as a sounds, its actually harder to play against 10 men.
Andy Harper doesnt! He thinks its easier.

With 20 mins to go, the home team is still 1-0 down, the crowd are getting even louder than before due to the sending off and Melbourne are quite rightly throwing everything they have at the Jets to try and salvage something from the game. For the next 18 minutes Andy Harper wanks on about how he doesnt understand why the Jets are not 5-0 up, "why are the Jets not dominating the game?", "why are Melbourne still in the game?", "why dont i have any friends?". Here is something for you to think about Harper, how about you actually take notice of how the game is unfolding instead of sticking your head in a bowling ball cleaner to get that nice "shine"!

Then on 88 minutes it happens, exactly what The Jets have been playing for since the opener. An opportunistic, against the run of play goal. Imagine that, its unbelievable, unheard of, its football Harper! Joel Griffiths got the goal his hard work deserved and The Jets were going on to win and all there was from Harper was silence! Looking back it was perhaps his finest 5 minutes of commentary all season, if only he would shut his useless mouth for 90 minutes then he would be the complete commentator!

During the game i messaged Henry Bergkamp and expressed my disdain for Haper, "He is SO pro Melbourne it is making me sick". Bergkamp replied and said that he didnt think he was pro Melbourne, just anti away team holding onto a 1-0 scoreline. The truth is i think he is right, but it only makes it worse. If Harper was pro Melbourne i could just brush it aside and say "oh well he is just saying that cos he wears Victory underwear, but he isnt. I have come to the conclusion that he has no idea about the game of football, i think he is a halfwit when it comes to football tactics. What else does he expect a team away from home to do with a 1-0 lead? Throw it away? Dickhead.

I was thinking that maybe i was being a bit harsh on the man, i mean he did play in the old NSL for years, he did play for the socceroos..................hang on a minute......... he didnt, hahahahahahaha, he never made it.......hahahahahahaha, that has to hurt. I just read somewhere that "he is the best player to never play for the socceroos", what a joke! Pele never played for the socceroos, does that make Harper better than Pele? What a tosser, i bet he was the one who came up with that quote, him or his mother.

The sooner Fox Sports realise that Harper and Slater are just has beens with no ability in calling the game, the better.

Its just my opinion

p.s. Where was Robbie "I have a Premiership winners medal" Slater last night anyway? At the hairdressers getting an orange rinse put throgh that hair of his? Do you know he was once known as the "Ginger Maradona" hahahaha Tosser

3 strikes and your out!

Greetings

I'd just like to start today by apologising straight up for what i am about to write about, the following post and the views expressed within it are entirely those of Sir Boom and not any other author of the site that is Boom Goes The Arsenal. That being said i have a feeling that they will agree with my opinions despite their controversial nature. So with that out of the way, on with the rant.

It was mid Sunday morning and after having to get up for work at 3:30am i wasnt really in the mood for doing anything other than lying around, having a bit of a "nana nap" and watching the Jets in the afternoon. As is always the case in my house my plans seem to vary from those of the very lovely Lady Boom. It was brought to my attention, just as i was boarding the choo choo train to sleepyville, that Lady Boom was bored and wanted to go into the city for some shopping. So i did what any self respecting husband does, and pretended to be asleep until she left the room. Moments later she returned announcing that she and her sister were leaving without me and would return later, fine by me!

Problem now was i had lost that sleepy feeling so i arose and found i had 3 hours to kill until the Jets kicked off, oh how was i to fill this wonderful time alone? With TV of course, and whatever sport happened to be on, even if it was womans billiards. Well i settled for something far less interesting, the Thugby League "Test Match" of Australia v New Zealand. What a joke that was! Absolutely pathetic! I really dont rate the game that much, i mean in all honesty its a stupid game for meat heads with no brains and the game did little to prove me wrong. There was a massive crowd of around 178 people there to witness the 2 "best teams in the whole wide world" smash the crap out of eachother. I didnt even finish watching the game and instead wasted money of the horses.

The one thing i will say is that Thugby League should never be allowed to have a "World Cup", their use of the term is an insult to all real sports and if i had my way it would be banned.

Dont think for a second that this is where my rant stops, oh no people, the shit has yet to hit the fan let me tell you!

The time clicked over to 2:30pm, the time of the pre-game show and i was that bored i thought i would even be able to put up with Robbie "I have a premiership winners medal dont you know" Slater's shit. To my surprise though when i turned over the show was not on, the "Baseball" was still going and was "Live" so Fox Sports was staying with it. Fair enough i said, ill come back in 15 mins. Well i did come back, however it was still going, bottom of the 9th inning or something and from memory that was close to the end of the game, problem was the scores were tied. I was starting to get worried.

If you have ever bothered to watch a game of Baseball you will be aware of how utterly fuckin boring it is and how fuckin long the game takes to move along. Man i thought that cricket was sometimes boring, but it has nothing on this game. It is incredible, nothing happens for around 30 mins, then someone finally hits a ball, then nothing happens for another 30 mins. I have a theory as to why the game of baseball is slow, and it is this, all Americans are fat right, therefore it takes them a long time to move, hence why baseball is so slow. Then there is this point, a game of baseball can take over 5 hours, if you attend one of these games as a spectator how many hotdogs do you think you can eat in 5 hours? A shitload! There being the reason why so many Americans are fat, hence why baseball is so slow! Its a vicious cycle that those poor people are in, but then again anyone stupid enough to elect a halfwit like Bush not once, but twice deserves to be punished by being fat and made to watch baseball for 5 hours!

Problem is that i am neither fat, nor American, therefore i shouldnt be subject to that shit and needless to say i was pissed of big time that i missed basically the 1st half of the Jets v Wellington game. In the end the Jets won and i suppose thats all that counts.

Its just my opinion

I did the unthinkable!

Greetings,

It was Thursday afternoon and i was doing my usual thing of surfing the football websites looking for any piece of team news that would help me in my fantasy football title challenge when i came across a piece of news that sent my world into disarray. The word on the street was that the mighty Cese Fabregas might be rested for the game against Sunderland. "Bullshit" i hear you say, "who would do such a thing?", well they were my thoughts exactly, but after i got over the initial shock that this could be more than just a rumour i had a huge dilemma in front of me. Do i take the captains arm band off him, or more drastically, drop him altogether? Could i bring myself to do it?

"You would never drop Fabregas Sir Boom" Henry Bergkamp said to me, and he was right, im might look stupid but id like to think im not! hahaha but take the arm band from him, that was another thing. Before the weekend i was in 2nd place in the Black Ice league, 18 points behind the leader, Sir Boom needed to make a move!

Looking at my team i had several possible replacements for the Captaincy of the mighty "Highly Fabregas". With The Arsenal playing Sunderland, Robin Van Persie was an obvious choice. Manure were playing the footballing giants that are Wigan so my newest recruit, Ronaldo, looked a good bet, or even Petrov from Man City had been racking up the points of late. I was pretty sure that nobody else would be thinking about making the change i was toying with so it was either going to pay massive dividends, or if Fabregas did what he has been doing all season and chipped in with a goal or 2 it could backfire big time.

These are the decisions that can make or break a season, this is why we get paid the big bucks, this is why we become managers. It was not a decision i was taking lightly, so i put on my thinking music, Pearl Jam, sat back and contemplated.

Heading into the staff meeting i was confident that i had made the right choice, Fabregas was staying, but not as captain. Needless to say my backroom staff were in total shock. "Are you mad?", "Dont do it Sir Boom, this is madness!". This was not the worst of the news, i still had to tell them who id named as captain, so after the cries had died down and the women stopped the tears, i let them know Ronaldo got the arm band. "What? anyone but him! The man is nothing more than Manure scum", "You've lost the plot Sir Boom, we are doomed", i had to restore order.

"Right, shut it you lot, this is my team. I am the manager and what i say goes, dont think for a minute that i want this, it is just something that has to be done and if you dont like it you know where the door is. Maybe you can go and get a job at Leeds (8 wins and 1 draw nice work). I am Sir Boom and what i say goes!

In the end its results that matter.

Ronaldo 13 points, 26 as captain
Fabregas 4 points, 8 as captain

You do the math, am i a genius? Id like to think so.

Sydney need to sing a different tune

Greetings

Its been awhile between posts, and im sure "The Manager" thinks its due to me attending and chairing the annual "Cese Fabregas is God" summit, but he would be wrong. For once work has kept me busy and my spare time has been kept to a minimum. A massive amount has happened in the past week, The Arsenal have continued to show the world how real football should be played, Chelski did the unthinkable and saked their manager 2 months into a new season, and replaced him with a new emerging talent that is "The Manger". I have a strong feeling that this is the begining of the end for them and what alot of people predicted would happen is happening, Roman is losing the plot and Chelski are going to be left in a mess bigger than Leeds! Just a side note on Leeds, how good are they going? 7 wins from 7 starts in the new season, if only they didnt get hit with that 15 point deduction!

Im not even going to try and say anything about Arsenal, i couldnt do it justice, i really couldnt. They are leaving both Henry Bergkamp and I with massive smiles on our faces and they are everything you can possibly want from a football team.
Long may it continue!

This weekend brings with it the A-League game of the season so far, sydney fc v Newcastle Jets! My shirt has been sent to the dry cleaners, my hat in sitting on my bed side table so i can kiss the badge before i go to sleep and my flag has been ironed and is whispering to me "fly me Sir Boom, let me feel the wind", oh in time, in time. It should be a good game with sydney finally getting a win last week and the Jets by far the best team in the league. Juninho may return to add a bit of class to an otherwise boring and classless sydney outfit but in my opinion it wont help. I must admit to feeling some regret that The Manager wont be able to join me at the game to help in the celebrations due to his commitments with Chelski but im sure it wont be long until he has plenty of free time on his hands after Roman flips his lid and sacks him as well! Tosser!

If your at the game on Saturday night look for me, ill be the only person celebrating in a crowd of sky blue, and if you see me in any kind of trouble please help me, as im sure the folks from sydney wont take kindly to me rubbing it in their faces when we are 3-0 up! Although if they dont kill me that rubbish song they play before the players exit the tunnel will! What the fuck is up with that? Ive heard Phil Collins songs that get me more pumped up than that shit, its horrible. They went looking for their own version of "You'll never walk alone" and came back with something that not even John Williamson would put on his record!

Go the Jets

The Manager is on the move

Readers,

I just got the weirdest phone call. It was Chelsea's owner Roman Abramovich. He told me Chelsea’s manager Jose Mourinho has been fired from the English Premier League club and Romo wants me – he has been tracking the progress of my fantasy team – Boomgoesthedynamite (Sir Boom – you owe me a lot of royalties for the use of “Boom”) and likes where I’m taking the team and he wants to bring that gusto to The Bridge.

“Chelsea Football Club and Jose Mourinho have agreed to part company today (Thursday) by mutual consent,'' said a one-line statement posted on the club's website.

Romo tells me that statement is “complete BS” He gave me a run down of the fateful conversation.

Romo: I want Ja Ja
Jose: You mean Ronaldinho
Romo: No… the real Ja Ja Binks – I’ve seen him in the movies and he’ll be great for the team. Shirt sales around the universe will skyrocket.

Jose: He isn’t real – you’re mad
Romo: I’m not mad I’m Romo – YOU’RE FIRED

I told Romo that Jose was a fool and if he wanted Ja Ja I’ll get him!

He doesn’t have to know it’s just a player in a suit…

So The Manager has a new job…the top job at Chelsea.
Sure, Sir Boom said he would never take the job no matter the money. But Sir Boom can’t get his head out of Flabbergas’ arse long enough to see the benefits.

Now all I have to do is find a Ja Ja suit bigger enough for Fat Lamps to fit in

Top of the league to you

Greetings,

Well let me begin by saying that i could not be happier after the weekends football! The Arsenal showed why playing football instead of playing crap works. Just how good were they? Unbelievable, i was lost for words, the way the never gave up, always knowing that they had goals in them was fantastic. The Scum were a pathetic excuse for a top 10 team and find themselves where they belong, in the bottom 4! hahahaha

The one problem that arose from the game was this - If Fabregas gets better, which will happen, who will stop him? Excuse my french here but he is just fuckin awesome, the boy is the best player in the world. If Jaa Jaa Ronaldinho Binks has a 100 million pound by-out clause in his contract, then whats Cese Fabregas worth? 200 million? The looks on the faces of the Scum supporters as his drive from 25 yards flew into the top corner were priceless! I love the man, i love the Arsenal and i love football!

Saturday night was perfect for me in a football sense, and it all started with the Jets winning and putting themselves 2nd. They still arnt playing great football but results are what counts and you cant complain with 2nd. A massive home crowd was on hand as well and its great to see, im sure it will only grow as everyone loves to watch a winning team. That brings me to Sydney, but what can you say about them?

I have to say regardless of the result Jimmy and I enjoyed the game. The goals were great, some good football was played in parts, but really at the moment Sydney just arnt good enough! I rang Henry Bergkamp at halftime and his 1st comment was "how much do you think we can get for the season tickets?" hahahaha a true Sydney fan! I must admit i am enjoying going to the Sydney games even if i am not a supporter, and there i think is the reason. Not being a supporter of the club i am able to go to the games and just enjoy the football and not be emotionally attached to the teams performance. As hard as Lady Boom finds it hard to understand sport can be a very emotional experience, especially when you love a team. I can still remember being there the night Australia beat Uruguay to make the World Cup, now that was an emotionally draining experience, and the 1st time id cried in around 15 years! I might have said it before but ill say it again, I love football!

Last of all id like to take my hat off to "The Cove" on Saturday night, you were awesome and if the players played half as well as you sing you would be top of the league!

Its just my opinion

At the end of the day we were outclassed!

Greetings

Last nights game against the Argies brought up a few interesting points for me. The major thing for me was the difference in the 2 halves, we went from putting up a good fight to just fighting fullstop. I have to say that what happened in the second half really disappointed me, it showed that the players had just given up trying to beat them by playing football and decided that the only way to beat them was to do just that and "beat" them.

Im reading a few other blog as im writing this and im not sure what some of these guys are on but i want some! One guy even suggests that Carney had a good game! Are you fuckin kidding me? He was the worst player on the park, and the biggest offender of the "beat em up" style tactics. The only way he looked any good was when Holman came on and proceeded to kick everyone in sight and pass every ball to someone in blue and white, thereby taking the focus off his useless arse.

Now you might say "Hang on Sir Boom, your being a bit harsh, if you had to mark Messi and he was making you look like a fool, im sure you would just start kicking him as well".........wrong! The 1st thing i would do is try and change my game to deal with the circumstances im facing, and hope to heaven that either that worked or he got injured, but to resort to spoil tactics makes me sick. You are basically saying to the world, "im not good enough, this guy is making me look like a muppet, so ill show him. ill beat the crap out of him". It just shows a lack of class and a horrible lack of ability. David Carney left the A-League in search of better football and a chance to improve his game, instead he went to the English Championship. Its amazing how quickly his game has changed, how quickly he has adapted to the thug type football used in the Championship. If he wants to improve his game i have a tip for him, learn how to dribble and cross dickhead, and your 1st point of reference should be the superstar who made you look like the gimp you are, Messi.

Just how good was he in the 1st half?! That is what is so beautiful about this game, players like that, that play without fear of doing something wrong, always believing that they can achieve anything. He was awesome to watch and its just a pity that he lost interest during the 2nd half after the 17th pointless kick he received, because i had the feeling he had a goal in him. Speaking of which, what more did Bresco have to do to score? Bloody hell, ive never seen anything like it.

So in the end we lost, but we were not shamed. Last nights game looks like it will be the last for Mr Arnold, and was it just me that heard a giant sigh of relief from millions of Aussie football fans? I hate him, i could write a whole novel on how and why i hate him, but there seems little point, the damage is done, time to look to the future.

Bring on the weekend, bring on the A-league, bring on the Jets, and bring on the North London Derby.

Go you Gooners!!!!!!!

Points away from home will win you the title!

Greetings,

For years myself and Henry Bergkamp have survived countless early mornings and late nights to watch the mighty Arsenal, never missing a game, so it was with much surprise that i was to miss the 1st half of the Newcastle Jets v Wellington Phoenix game on Sunday afternoon, considering that the kick-off was at 3pm. The very late night i had attending the Workmans Club presentation night didnt help i must admit, but that being said i am still very upset with myself, i mean its The Jets for goodness sake, thats worth missing some sleep for! I awoke to a msg on my phone saying "Phoenix are all over you", its not the best thing to wake up to but the good news was there were no more msgs, so there was still hope.

When i arrived just after the 2nd half had started Bergkamp was sitting there looking quite smug, "another draw for the Jets hey!?", smartarse, "how good are Sydney going?"......silence. Ive always thought i had some special inspirational powers and this was a moment that reinforced that feeling because from the moment i started watching the game the Jets played all over the Phoenix and went on to win the game. So 2nd spot was ours and we had become only the 2nd team this season to win a game, an unbelievable stat.

I have a feeling ive stated earlier that the key to this years competition was going to be getting as many points away from home as possible, case in point the Mariners, 2 of their 3 wins have been away from home, thats a massive advantage. People will suggest that the league is boring with all these draws, i think thats bullshit, if you want goals galore bugger off and watch fumble ball(AFL), the fact there has been so many draws this season has nothing to do with negative football, its simply proof that the salary cap is working! I believe that if you can't appreciate a nil all draw your not a real football fan.

Nice to see that Bergkamp has already forsaken his team, Sydney FC, by missing this weekends game. What a supporter, what commitment, what passion. He is leaving me to take a friend in his place because he doesnt want to watch them have another draw. Or maybe its because he doesnt want to listen to that pathetic excuse for a club song, now that is a joke! I am going to be telling Jimmy (famous as the manager of Jimmy's Jewels) that the singing of this song is compulsory. By the way Happy Birthday for Friday "The Manager".

So its Australia v Argentina tomorrow night hey? Am i the only one who hopes we get our arse kicked just so Arnold looks like even more of a gimp? What a tosser, he will probably even play Alex Brosque up front as well hahahahahaha.

We've only got 10 men, We've only got 10 men!

Well what a long day ive had. I didnt get to sleep until around 1:30am this morning and had to be up just before 5am for the daily trek to work, Lady Boom reminds me thats its my own fault and shows no sympathy for me, but you want to know something, it is so worth it. The beauty of this week is that thanks to "President" Bush and the APEC garbage i will be able to recoup that lost sleep when we Sydneysiders get Friday off! hahaha

I have to admit that around 30 mins before kickoff last nite i was contemplating going to bed at halftime regardless of the score just because i knew i would be hurting this time tomorrow, i am so glad i didnt. The day was set up to be a cracking day of football for myself, The Mighty Jets were playing at tea time then it was just a short wait until The Arsenal played, what more could a man want? Well ill tell you one thing he wanted, and that was a better showing from the Jets. I have seen better passing displays from 12 year olds. It was horrific, so many basic things going wrong it sent me to throw my new hat at the wall in disgust, more than once (thanks go to The Manager for my new supporters gear), lucky for me Lady Boom had since left the building. However such is the beauty of football sometimes the sublime can rise from the shit, and so it did thanks to Joel Griffiths. So its 2 games and 2 draws for the Jets, leaving them equal 2nd but as ive said previously this league is going to be very close so dont be surprised if by the end of the season a few teams are locked on the same amount of points.

Henry Bergkamp and i ventured to our 1st Sydney FC game on Saturday night but with that report being left to him i would just like to take the opportunity to deny all reports of me doing anything other than watching the game as a fan of football itself!

So anyway, onto the Gunners, onto things that matter, onto things that make you go mmmmmmmmmm. Well my word, if you ever want to see football the way it should be played ( Chelski this includes you) go no further than last nights game.I lost count of the amount of times i was lost for words, while it was far from the perfect game and not the best game i have ever seen from an Arsenal team, there were large patches of the Pompey game that were perfect, there is no other way of putting it. After enduring the childish passing of the Jets game i was treated to some of the finest one touch football i have ever seen. The Arsenal were well worth the 3 points, and the 3 goals for that matter, and it could well have been more. There was not one bad player on the park wearing red and white last night, ill even admit Hleb played well. And as far as Fabregas goes he makes me sick, this guy is only 20 years old and has more talent in his big toe nail than i will ever have, and i love him for it. I have to see this man live before i die, i use to think that about Wright, then Henry, but now i have a new God, well he has been God for a few years now, but i need to see him play in the flesh.

Anyway enough about my fantasys, The Arsenal looked shit hot, Chelski lost, Manure looked ordinary and the Pool played a pub team and only managed to score 6 goals!!!! hahahahaha useless bastards!

On a final note: International breaks suck!

Its just my opinion

New Chelski Manager

Greetings

Well The Arsenal won this morning 3-0, no real surprises there. I got to see the 1st 15 minutes or so before i had to leave for work and i have to say i was so close to picking the phone up and ringing in sick so i could watch the rest of the game. They looked so sharp and were playing beautiful football i didnt want to leave. The biggest disappointment of the game has to be the commentators, i hate ESPN, i hate their 20 minute ad breaks but even more than that i hate the American "commentators". Their inability to pronounce names and the fact they call it "soocer" make me sick, it makes it sound second rate and you cant take the game seriously. People are going to say the game died off after the 1st goal, but what else would you expect? The job was done and the weekends game against Pompey needed to take priority.

So it looks like there will be no more players joining The Arsenal until at least the new year, i for one hope that we manage to go until then without to many injuries. Chelski on the other hand, if you believe the crap floating around the web lately are going to try and sign Jar Jar Binks himself, Ronaldinho. Are you kidding me? Some reports suggest that the wankers are willing to line his pockets with 200,000 pounds a week. Hahahahahaha wouldnt that piss John Terry and Fat Frank Lampard off. For months they have fought to be on level pay terms as Bollocks and Sheva, somewhere around the 120,000 pounds a week mark. Let me start by saying that NO MAN is worth that amount of money, let alone Fat Frank. I am far from Fat Franks biggest fan, safe to say i dont rate him at all, so if his agent was to ring me up as Chelski manager and tell me he thought his client deserved to be equal highest payed at the club i think the convo would go a bit like this -

Agent - Hello is this Sir Boom?
Me - Yes, who else is it going to be?
Agent - Im just ringing in regards to Frank Lampards contract
Me - Thats nice, why are you calling me?
Agent - Because your the Chelsea manager
Me - I am? how did that happen? i hate Chelski! This is terrible, i feel so dirty!
Agent - mmm, so....about Frank's contract?
Me - You mean Fat Frank, well at least thats what we call him behind his back, hahaha, what about his contract?
Agent - Well we believe he should be on equal terms with the highest paid at the club
Me - Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha, are you serious? Fat Frank would be paid in hot dogs if it was up to me, except he would probably want a pay increase in those as well! Fat prick, he cant play and we are actually going to sack him tomorrow, goodbye!

I would just like to state that i would never accept the post of Chelski manager ever, and i think anyone that does has no penis!

Its just my opinion

A-League season preview

Id like to start by first welcoming the newest member of the Boom Goes The Arsenal team, The Manager. I am looking forward to his contributions over the coming season, his insight and passion for the game will make for some interesting reading. Add to that the fact he is a die hard Newcastle Jets fan i am sure i can count on his support when we meet the pretty boys of the league, Henry Bergkamp's Sydney FC!

Speaking of which i better get down to business and lay down my thoughts for the coming A-League season, Mark III. As ive previously stated i am indeed looking forward to the football that lies ahead, i have a feeling that it is going to be a very close title race and that top 4 spots wont be decided until the last weekend. Damm i love this game!

Champions - Newcastle Jets

You may be pissing yourself laughing right now, thinking that ive gone mad, but i have a very good feeling for this season. The Jets suffered some massive losses from last season (Carle, Okon and Rodriguez) but have been able to bring in some decent talent as well (Spencer, Denni, Drovandi and Jardel). Gary van Egmond proved last year how good a coach he is, taking the Jets from last to 3rd in a little over half a season, in the second half of the season there was no better team in the league, none! The greatest injustice was that they never made the Grand Final.
Player to Watch - Jorge Drovandi
Leading Goal Scorer - Mark Bridge
Waste of Space - Since Coveny has left, nobody!

2nd - Melbourne

Most people's obvious choice to take the league title again, not mine. While the team is full of quality, and i love the fact that they were getting over 50,000 fans to their games, i hate Muscat and i hate Merrick. I think they are going to feel the loss of Fred alot more than they think and unless someone is able to fill that void i dont see the goals coming.
Player to Watch - Carlos Hernandez
Leading Goal Scorer - Danny Allsopp
Waste of Space - Archie Thompson

3rd - Sydney FC

Ive been sitting here for over 10 minutes after deciding on the top 2 trying to figure out the rest of the league, finally settling on Sydney, but not by much. Id also like to see some finals football live this year so the fags in blue making the semi's will help that happen. After a very ordinary pre season with players leaving, players coming back and a struggle to find a "marquee" signing, i think they may struggle early on in the season but come finals time, they will be there.
Player to Watch - Juninho (who else?)
Leading Goal Scorer - Patrick Da Silva (Alex Brosque? hahahahaha)
Waste of Space - Alex Brosque

4th - Adelaide

If there is a more boring team on the planet i DONT want to see them. They are rubbish, but they win games, due in large to the fact they bore the opposition to sleep then steal a goal. They were an embarrassment in the Grand Final last year, way out of their depth but as i said above they win games and therefore will be there in the finals. The only decent thing about them is Angelo Costanzo and that ponytail of his!
Player to Watch - Cassio
Leading Goal Scorer - Paul Agostino
Waste of Space - Aurelio Vidmar (yes the manager)

5th - Queensland Roar
But only just, i dont rate Farina as a manager and i still hold a grudge against him for everything he did to the national team. decent signings will help them this year.

6th - Central Coast Mariners
They are a consistent team i will give them that, but they are very similar to Adelaide and we all know what i think they them!

7th - Wellington Phoenix
So the whole story is they are rising from the ashes left by those poor excuses for football teams of the previous seasons hey? i think they will be the surprise packet of the season.

8th - Perth Glory
Looking at their squad the biggest thing that stands out is that they have FOUR goalkeepers! With the squad limitations that are in place can you give me a good reason why you would waste four of them on goalkeepers? Wooden spoon anyone?

So thats it, thats the season, we may as well pack up and go home now. Unless of course you are a Newcastle Jets fan because the fun is only just about to start! GO THE JETS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Manager Of The Month

Righto, I’m going to take the opportunity of my first blog contribution to write about the trails and tribulations of being a manager.

It’s hard work. The team does well we congratulate the players – praise them to the ends of the earth. The team performs poorly and the finger of blame points straight to the manager. No wonder they have heart conditions

I’ve just started the new season managing my own team of superstars. I’ve selected some of the best players in the world and brought them together, hoping they will gel and bring home the silverware at the end of the season. And so far things, I’m afraid to say, haven’t gone to plan.

The directors are already asking questions and my promises of “nothing but the championship” are looking shaky.

I’m being held responsible, but like every good manager I find excuses for the team’s poor performances. Injuries have riddled my team, my captain went and got sent off for a head butt and the owners are severely limiting my powers to change my squad. While the starting 11 in my team are top class my squad lacks depth – the bench players are donkeys, I only bought them to sell a few thousand shirts.

I’m floundering in middle-table mediocrity and only a few weeks in, the leaders are looking further and further ahead. There’s no option to go on a spending spree, I can’t do an O’Leary and spend money I don’t have. I must to battle on with the troops I have.

But I still have faith; it only takes one good week to get the team back on track. Then we’ll see the points start to flow in and Boomgoesthedynamite will be back on top of the Black Ice Fantasy Premier League ladder once again!

WOW, did Manure really just lose 3 straight?

Greetings

I woke up this morning to some very interesting news. First up i found out that The Arsenal had a predictable 1-all draw with those thugs from Blackburn, damm i hate that team, i really do. Unfortunately over that past few years Blackburn along with Bolton have been some what of a bogey team for the Gunners and it proved that way again today.

I have to admit that that news didnt really get me off to the greatest of starts this morning at 5am, the only way i was going to feel any better was if Chelski and Pool had a draw and 10 men were sent off or injured and Manure had done the unthinkable and lost....again. Now while Chelski and Pool finished with the full 11 on the pitch, they did have a draw, all thanks to a very dodgy penalty. If i hear Mourinho complain once this season that Chelski dont get penalties i will fly over there and smack him in the face, just like im sure many of you wish you could do, what a wanker. So that was result number 1 going my way, i had even broken out in a smile.

Then that smile grew and i was even heard to be laughing as i read the next result from the Manchester derby, a 1-0 win to City. Hahahahahahaha. Suddenly a draw at that shit of a place, Ewood Park, looked like a good result. From what ive seen Manure were poor, had plenty of chances but the ugliest man in football, Tevez, couldnt finish. Oh i feel for them, i really do. Hahahahahaha. Maybe i need to go back and change my seasons predictions and have Man City winning the title and Manure fighting relegation. However that would be stupid and very premature! I still stand by my previous comment that they will be there or there abouts come May.

Well im off to watch the highlights show and see how bad The Arsenal were, or should i say how bad Lehmann was!

Tomorrow will be my A-League season preview, so keep your eyes open for some hot tips!

It has begun!!!!

As the old saying goes "when it rains, it pours", after months of waiting for the season to start, the games are now coming thick and fast. To those of you who have pay tv, just how good is the coverage! To those of you who dont have it, how on earth do you live? please do yourself a massive favour and get it. The new "viewers choice" option of games that kick off at the same time is sensational, i dont want to sound like im on Foxtel's payroll, but if your any kind of football fan you NEED it!

So Arsenal's season began with a very late win against Fulham, as Henry Bergkamp remarked to me the next day, a win is a win. Really its those kind of games where you pull a win from the clutches of a draw that can win you titles, so who knows hey! With Manure dropping points both on the weekend and also this morning with 2 draws, added to the fact that Rooney is now out injured and Ronaldo is also now out for around 3 weeks after being sent off for a headbutt, im reading a few stories of people writing off their title defence. Are you people serious? Grow a brain, neck up and dont be stupid, they will be there in May.

Ive just finished watching the Arsenal v Sparta champions league game and while it wasnt the most beautiful game of football ive ever seen, im taken back to the above comment from Bergkamp, "a win is a win", especially away from home in Europe. It looks like Alex Hleb is an avid reader of Boom Goes The Arsenal, as he has scored in his last 2 starts and is looking twice the player he was last season, not that that would be hard. While at the moment i still think he is a waste of space (im happy to be proven wrong) there is someone who would like to take this title away from him, Alex Song! Do you remember when you are a kid playing under 10's etc, and there is always, in every team, this one kid who is rubbish, i mean embarrassingly rubbish. Well id like to introduce you to Alex Song!

If this guy is getting a run for the Mighty Gunners id like to put my hand up, i mean seriously i think i could run rings around this guy, its almost like Wenger owes someone a massive favour and the way they want it repaid is for Song to get a run. He would struggle to get a run at Leeds, and thats saying something!

Some other games where played over the weekend and during the week, but lets be honest, who cares about them? All except that the Scum have lost both their opening games, hahahahahaha, and that i am sitting pretty ontop of our local fantasy football ladder!

There is news that Liverpool are planning a new stadium, i have come across an exclusive early artists impression below.

Let the Games Begin................

And the winner is Sidineeeee Beijing............

Oh shite that's the Olympics and this is meant to be an eloquent review of the upcoming EPL season.

Well, when I read Sir Booms' review of the forthcoming season I was most impressed and intimidated, I mean a great deal of research must have gone into it, given the detail in his blog, especially in regard to his top five predictions, their transfers in and out etc...

He was most evenhanded, even tipping against the "Arse" finishing top of the pile.

I must admit I had similar thoughts, but then I woke up from my alcohol induced nightmare and decided that I have to be rational and logical when compiling my own list.

So I took it upon myself to carefully research all twenty teams that will partake in this seasons "premier" football competition. I went to their respective web sites and gleaned as much information as I could, about their players, manager, support staff, supporters etc. I was going to leave no stoned unturned in my quest to write the most balanced review possible.

But then I remembered.............................shite, I'm an Arsenal supporter, I've no respect for any other team. In fact I'm down right one eyed and biased when it comes to the team from Highbury Emirates, so logic doesn't even enter the equation.

I see no reason to even comment on the Arsenal team itself, nothing can be achieved by padding out my list of “one”. While I concede that the other teams do have some very good players/managers and they may even be nice people, there is only one team that will win the 2007/2008 Championship, ARSENAL and the rest can please themselves where they finish, I don't give a toss.............

Season Preview

Where to begin? As i've expressed in previous posts i am really looking forward to this coming Premier League season, even if i am going to have to wait till the second weekend to see the new look Arsenal on tv. Everyone is going to have a different opinion on who is going to win the league, who's going to make it into europe and who's going to suffer the drop. Mine may differ to yours, but i don't care, your going to be wrong!

Champions - Manchester United

What? he isnt predicting that Arsenal will win the title? No i am not, and for very good reason, they cant, not this season. The way Manure have added to their squad this summer, without losing anything of note is impressive, and if the Teves deal finally goes through it will be the icing on the cake. As much as i hate Manure i do respect them, they have earned their history and i just think this season will be another league title for them.
Player of the Year - Ronaldo (cant go past him, they won it on his back last year)
Leading Goalscorer - Rooney (darkhorse to win the league leading goalscorer)
Waste of Space - Fletcher (the only reason this guy gets a run is because he is Scottish, it has to be!)

2nd - Arsenal

The major concern for us this year isnt the fact the "kids" are too young to win the league this year, i dont believe in that theory at all, i just think along with Manure's quality squad, the fact i feel Arsenal's is a bit light may be the thing that hurts us in the long run. While i dont think we will win it, I have a feeling the boys will give it a massive shake and wont be far off the race in terms of points.
Player of the year - Fabregas (i just love the man, look for him to score more goals this year)
Leading Goalscorer - Van Persie (massive season for the man, time to step out of Henry's shadow)
Waste of Space - Hleb (his name sounds like something you cough up, and his ability resembles something similar)

3rd - Chelsea

I hate them, i really do. It does surprise me that "the great one" is still in charge after last season, but i have a feeling this will be his last. They didnt hammer the transfer market as they have in previous years which came as a bit of a shock. I think the injuries that they already have before the season starts are going to hurt them and if they are not careful they may find themselves out of the title race before it has even begun. If this season goes the way i think, look for a mass exit of players next year, that being said, im available to sit on the bench for a mere $250,000 a week!
Player of the Year - Carvalho (better than Terry, without him they are up shit creek)
Leading Goalscorer - Drogba (who else is going to score the goals? Shevchnko? hahahahahaha)
Waste of Space - Lampard (ive always said he is an ok player surrounded by a great team, nothing more)

4th - Liverpool

A massive amount of money has been spent by Pool this summer, all be it on crap. Benitez never ceases to amaze me in who he buys, the man is yet to make a truely world class signing, honestly. Sure he is spending alot of money, but what has he got to show for it? Champions League? That was a fluke, and besides, the premiership is a different story. The major problem i see with Pool is they never really gel as a team, and i think it will be the same this season.
Player of the Year - Gerrard (the heart and sole of the team)
Leading Goalscorer - Kuyt (he will make sure Torres spends mos of his time on the bench)
Waste of Space - Pennant (overrated Arsenal reject, another quality piece of transfer from Benitez)

5th - Tottenham (Never going to be good enough for top 4)
6th - Man City (you cant go past the Sven factor, losts of cash also helps)
7th - Everton (they continue to defy the odds)
8th - Portsmouth (decent squad, again money helps)
9th - Newcastle (Fat Sam gets his chance at a "big" club)
10th - Aston Villa (O'Neill is a quality manager, but the squad looks very thin)
11th - West Ham (new season, new start, will find it hard to break into the top 10)
12th - Reading (2nd season syndrom? maybe, but they will be safe, and hard to beat at home)
13th - Blackburn (very quiet in the transfer market, and i dont like them)
14th - Bolton (will feel the loss of Fat Sam more than they think)
15th - Middlesbrough (they will be lucky if they dont put half their supporters to sleep)
16th - Sunderland (they wont struggle too much, recent signing of a quality keeper will help)
17th - Fulham (will be fighting till the last day, but will get lucky)
18th - Wigan (anyone who signs Titus Bramble deserves to go down)
19th - Birmingham (are they the new yo-yo team? not enough quality)
20th - Derby (its getting harder and harder for the new boys to stay up, too hard for the Rams)

Thats it, my predictions for the coming season. I guess we will have to wait till May to see how ive gone, but im quietly confident! Next up is Henry Bergkamp's Season Preview which i am looking forward to with much anticipation! Bring on this weekend!

I Can't Wait Till August

I hate off seasons, i really do, they go for far to long! The big advantage of the past 2 off seasons though has been the World Cup of 2006 and the Asian Cup this year, they do help make the time go faster. With Euro 2008 next year it does help soften the blow of having no quality football on our screens, but ultimately there is nothing like club football. I really can not wait till August and the start of both the Premier League and the A-League.

Over the next couple of weeks Henry Bergkamp and i will put together our predictions for the upcoming seasons of both competitions, who we think will finish where and who we think will be the stars and flops. Feel free to use my predictions in your fantasy teams as im sure they will be spot on! ;)

Normally the Premier League is my biggest priority in terms of anticipation, but i have to admit that Version 3 of the A-League is getting me going! My Sydney FC membership is ready to go and i cant wait for the opportunity to see quality football every other week. Being a Newcastle Jets fan it may seem strange that i have a Sydney season ticket, but with me living in Sydney and Bergkamp being a Sydney fan its the logical thing to do.

I must admit i am a little worried that after the succesful first 2 seasons that the Jets had, i could be in for a long season. Losing Carle and Okon is going to hurt and while i watch every other team make good signings i watch and wait in hope, much the way i watch and wait for Arsenal to magically sign a whole team of superstars, even if they dont need them. Its like being the poor kid with his packed lunch from home watching all the rich kids buying their lunch from the canteen, you just want some of what they are having.

In the end it just comes down to trust. You just have to trust your manager knows what he is doing, you just have to trust that the players already at the club will do the job.

And trust i shall, i just cant wait! Bring on August!

Where to now?

Morning all,

As the dust begins to settle on what Mr Bergkamp rightly described as a nightmare display by Australia, the question remains, "Where to now?". I have to admit I am only now getting over the shock of Friday nights performance, but im sure im not the only one. What makes matters worse, if thats possible at the moment, is the aftermarth, its disgraceful and exactly the opposite of what was needed. Right when you wanted to hear all the players come out and apologise for thier performances and promise that they will be doing everything they can to make it right on Monday night, we get news that there is a split within the camp and everyone is blaming everyone else.

Here is some news for you guys, "stand up and be men, admit your failings, and play football". I read this morning that until very recently negotiations about player payments were still going on. Is this for real? In the middle of the Asian Cup our players are worried about home much money they are getting? Something is seriously wrong here, I mean im sure I would be able to round up around 3 million Australians who would gladly play for this great country for nothing, id also bet that we could have even got a result against Iraq!

For me, FIFA should bring in a rule that all international games be unpaid, only at the end of a tournament should players be paid bonuses depending on how they perform. This goes for the World Cup as well. It should be a honor to play for your country, not a right, the same goes for the Coach! Thats right Arnold im looking at you. Im sure you felt let down by the players Friday night, as you expressed in your comical interview after the game, but as the saying goes "those in galss houses........".

Its hard for me to say but the time for ranting is not now, its later, when we have won this stupid cup. The time for infighting is NEVER, the players need to step up and win this thing because they are in a situation where alot of public faith in them has been lost. They were on a high post World Cup, the entire Australian public loved them, all the other "football" codes were very afraid of US. Now i feel they are breathing a sigh of releif as they watch our bubble burst.

Just go out and play good football, the wins will come.

Oh and by the way, Bobbie Slater is a wanker!

Friday 13th – Nightmare on Bangkok St.

Where does one begin the analysis of last nights game. Given that I'm in shock over the inept display by the majority of the Olyroos Socceroos and if I let my emotions take over then this would be one long rant and rave and that's not my style, I'll leave that to Sir Boom, but that was “farkin” terrible.

It was definitely a nightmare worthy of a Hollywood fright flick, scary to say the least, right from the kick off through to Lucas Neill getting his second yellow for complimenting the referee on his hair style, the Australian teams style of play was pedestrian at best. Why do we insist on playing Mark Viduka up front only to leave two of the best “goal thief's” in Tim Cahill and John Aloisi on the bench instead of capitalizing on butterballs V Bomber's ability to hold and distribute the ball.

"It was very disappointing," Arnold said.

"Three individual mistakes cost us the game. We worked hard to get back to 1-1 and then two individual mistakes killed us.

Bullshit that like me saying Robbie “I've got a winners medal” Slatter cost us the game from the commentary box, that's it we'll blame Robbie because he bored us to death.

But I digress, while I agree some players individual performances were poor, to say three individual mistakes cost us the game says it all for me. Be man enough to say we didn't attack enough, didn't score more goals than them, weren't prepared well enough, but please don't blame individual errors on the “teams” inability to win last nights game.

As a “team” Australia's performance was “farkin” shite.

So the sooner we stop basking in the glorious deeds of Germany 2006 the better, new coach, new attitude, new style of play, over to you Football Federation Australia.....................

Madrid can go and get stuffed!!!!!

Where do these guys get off? New Real Madrid coach Bernd Schuster has not been in the job more than 5 minutes and he has already pissed me off! He wants to sign Cese Fabregas and believes just because he is the manager of Real Madrid he can have him tomorrow! Just some friendly advice for you "Bernd", FUCK OFF!

Where do these Spanish teams get off? Every off season it seems their best used tactic to sign a player that they want is to unsettle them in everyway possible. I'm sure its not just because im an Arsenal fan and ive had to put up with it every year, there are other teams out there putting up with this shit as well. This kind of tactic has to be in some way illeagal.

The sensational stories that are run in the Spanish press have a massive bearing on how the sagas unfold. You cant tell me that these papers are not fed little stories from Real and Barca on purpose to heap more and more pressure on the clubs and players involved. If you are hearing your name in the papers every day being linked with these "superpowers" its going to play on your mind and of course you are going to start to believe your own hype!

Whats worse than the papers and managers, if thats possible, are these wankers called "Club Presidents". During the recent Real president elections, Ramon Calderon (who won) claimed that if he was elected he would sign Kaka, Robben and Fabregas. Excuse me for a minute, but who the fuck are you to make such a claim? There is no possible way you can make that claim! Unless you already have a signed contract from the players themselves, which would be illegal. Milan have basically told Real to go and shove a very sharp object up their arse, there is no way they are getting Kaka, its is my hope that Arsenal do the same.....at the very least.

It is my belief that the reason Real have been so crap lately is due in large to 2 factors, 1 - they keep sacking their manager, never allowing any kind of structure, the players are changing systems all to often. 2 - most of the signings they have made over the years have been for the sake of signing the "best" players, regardless of how they will fit into the team, these signings are mostly made because its who the presidents wants, not who the manager wants. It happened at Chelski with Shevchenko and looked how that turned out!

It just shits me thats all, I know that day will come when Cese wants to move back to Spain, i just dont want it to be for at least 10 years!

Its just my opinion

O'MAN THAT WAS CLOSE

You just knew that if Australia was going to pull itself out of a lackluster performance and grab a share of the points it was going to be one Tim Cahill who would pop up and score. As he did only 12 months ago Cahill proved Australia's saviour in our time of need, and wernt we in need! Truth be told if it wasnt for the heroics of Mark Schwarzer, Cahills goal may have only made the score line a respectable 4-1, as the Omanies (for lack of a better nickname) really should have won the game. Schwarzer showed yet again why he is one of the best shot stoppers in the game, and i really do wish for his sake he leaves Boro because he deserves better.

I must admit, as the 90th minute ticked over i was kicking myself for not having some money on Oman to win, as Centrebet was offering a massive $11. Why people think we a walk up starter in the final is beyond me for 2 reasons, 1-we rnt as good as people think and 2-alot of these asian teams are alot better than people think. The Omanies proved last night that if you can steal a goal and defend like your life depends on it, you can match it with a supposed "quality" opposition. Add to that their ability to time waste and you have a good combo, but ill get to that latter, because it shits me to tears!

Attacking wise last night, that was about as ineffective as I have seen us in quite some time, due in some respect to the Oman defence, that fella marking Fat Viduka was outstanding. He took Mark right out of the game, and by the 2nd half i thought he should have been replaced because he seem to loose all interest and was never going to score. Our distribution from central midfield was the worst ive seen it, I cant recall Grella and Culina making more than a handful of succesful passes.

Ive said it before and ill say it again, Luke Wilkshire should not even be in the squad, let alone taking every set piece!!!!!!! Here is a question for you, is Brett Emerton the dumbest footballer on the planet? Their goal came as a direct result of him not doing the most basic thing as following his players run!

In the end we were lucky to get the draw, the funny thing is though it is the Omanies own fault we even had the chance. A massive 4 minutes of added time came as a direct result of their pathetic play acting! Every single time they went down the ref stopped his watch, in the end giving us time to score, so was it justice in the end? No way! Why? Because it should never have happened in the 1st place!

Its cheating, plain and simple! I had to retrain myself from putting my fist through the tv screen in anger at the horrible display of acting that even Madonna would have been ashamed of. It is a blight on the game and 1 than needs to be stamped out. The difference between the 2 teams can been shown by the fact that Kewell was hammered twice early and all he did was sit up, pull his socks up and hurl abuse at that guy would looked a bit like a woman (or was that just me?), you compare this to the fact that everytime as aussie breathed heavily near 1 of them he went down like he had been hit by an elephant!

My answer, everytime a player needs treatment and is taken to the sidlines, they have 2 spend a min 3 minutes on the sideline before they can return. Can you imagine the amount of crap and abuse a player would recieve from his own team and supporters if he faked an injury at an important stage of the game and left his side a man down for an extended amount of time and he wasnt really hurt?

Just my opinion!

Arsenal Quiet, Australia Shows Some Bad Signs

Goodmorning and welcome,

With Arsenal news thin on the ground of late i thought instead of wasting my time trying to predict who we should and shouldnt bring in to replace the unreplacable, i would take the opportunity to take a look at the blockbuster international that was Australia v Singapore.

To be honest i was actually really looking forward to this game, not because it was a meeting of 2 world powerhouses, hahaha, but more to see how the inept Graham Arnold was going to hamper the progress of Australian football. I have to say straight out, i am not Arnold's biggest fan, and i think the sooner we get rid of him and move onto a manager who knows the basics, the better off we will be.

Sure, we won the game 3-0 and ultimately as far as the record books are concerned a win is a win, however this is a case of the result having no reflection on the game as a whole. In truth, if it wasnt for a couple of decent saves from Schwarzer and a lot of help from the woodwork Singapore would be celebrating a deserved victory. Indeed in wasnt until the introduction of Kewell early in the 2nd half did things start to click.

Now my fears dont lie within the attacking half of the pitch, i believe there we are more than capable. It is in the area of the park where a defensive line should be placed that i have great doubts. In Lucas Neill we have a worldclass centreback and in Schwarzer we have a worldclass keeper, sadly thats where it finishes. For some unknown reason Arnold continues to chop and change the backline looking for some magical solution that isnt there, and with the Asian Cup getting closer and closer it is obvious he still has no idea what his best XI is!

Luke Wilkshire should not even be in the squad, let alone playing at left back, the man is a gimp. Brett Emerton is getting better playing in the wing back role, but his defensive capabilities are still of concern, and as for Michael Beauchamp, are you kidding me? I cringe everytime i see this man warming up on the sidelines, how this man is getting selected is beyond me. He has the ability of a dead camel and thats being a bit harsh to dead camels everywhere. Also whats up with that haircut? He left the A-League to go overseas and earn the big bucks and he looks like he is getting his haircut at the local butcher, please someone take the boy aside and point out that he looks like a dick!

After the match Arnold had this to say -

"We've been working very hard during the week so it was the performance I expected on the fatigue side of it,"

"Singapore tested us and were very unlucky. We have a lot of work to do. Our attacking play was fantastic ... but we've got some work to do in defence."

"Some" work? what drug are you on Arnold? can i get some?

How about you start by getting rid of yourself, thats as good a defensive move as any!
